Having a degree in Art, I never expected to end up spending my professional life in Pediatric Practice Management.  In 1985, after being a “stay-at-home-mom” for several years I decided to enter the workforce and took a front desk receptionist position at my children’s pediatric office….Children’s Medical Group, P.A. in my hometown of Jackson, MS.  After moving thru supervisory positions, the insurance department and then being placed in the role of Assistant to the Clinic Administrator, I was asked to accept the position of Clinic Administrator in 1990.  With the challenges facing a 13 physician pediatric practice, multiple satellite offices and complicated compliance issues on the horizon, I decided to pursue obtaining my certification in Medical Practice Management which I completed in 1997.

God has a way of letting you know your future is still in HIS hands.  After 25 years with the Jackson, MS Police Department my husband retired.  Shortly after his retirement he was offered the position of bass vocalist with The Stamps Quartet here in Nashville.  After lots of prayer, we decided to leave our childhood homes and our very large extended families and move to Nashville.  I could not have imagined that Deanna Bell, M.D. would soon call and ask me to come serve at Mercy as the Director of Business Operations.  I am so pleased and honored to be using my skills for “God’s business” here at Mercy.  It is a privilege.

I have been married for 32 years to my high school sweetheart, Butch Owens.  We have two grown children, Ian and Adrianne and 2 precious grandchildren.

Some of my hobbies include painting (of course) and faux-finishing.

My favorite scripture is (1 John 1:9) “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.”  What an awesome God we serve!
